2007 Maple Leaf Cup Results Updated with Pic's

The Maple Leaf Cup had 3 Major events in Niagara Falls Canada this past summer.  Three weekends at the Niagara Regional Street Hockey Centre,  great hockey games and lots of action and several upsets took place. More than 700 players from the US and Canada competed in the 27th Maple Leaf Cup

PENGUIN B Leominster Flames 7 vs 3 Niagara Falls Flyers The  Flames coached by George Barrett soundly defeated the Niagara Fall Flyers 7 to3, the Flames got 2 goals each from Brad Leger, and Tavis Dehorsey with singles going to Nolan Barrett, Jarrod Duffy, &  Adam Chartrand. NF got goals from Mitch Tavavo, Mike Bertone, and Colin Essex.

PENGUIN A Leominster Storm 3 vs 2 Toronto Jaquars  Tony Johnson's Storm edged a powerful team from Toronto 3-2. The Storm got goals from Tyler Gallant and Brandon Phillips to take a 2-1 lead into the 3rd period. The Jaq's Joe Teofilo tied the game at 2-2 with 5 minutes left and had plenty of pressure on goalie Andrew Carter who had to make several great saves. With 2:01 left in the game which looked like it was headed for overtime, Cam Moran of the Storm who were shorthanded  took a faceoff deep in the Jaq's zone won in back to Tyler Cuddahy. Cuddahy blasted a shot past Alex Bishop to win the game.

 BEAVER  B  St Catherine Avalanche 6 vs 0 Niagara Falls Roofing The Av's coached by Scott Stenhouse romped over the NF Roofing 6 to 0, Luke Doppelhofer led the way with 2 goals and singles going to Kyle Marino,Braydon Haldorson, Jordan Boyko and Mike Hildebrandt. Tyler Arp recorded the shutout.

BEAVER A Niagara Falls Fasteners 4  vs 3 Team Pittsburgh Tony Giacobetti's Fasterners edged Team Pittsburgh (Beaver B US NATIONAL CHAMPS) with just over 2 minutes left in the game on a goal by Zach Hildebrandt, Dan Abbott had a goal and Mike Flynn added 2 goals. Pittsburgh got goals 2 goals from Owen Fink and one from Jeremy Warhold. NF's Ryan Senese was great in between the pipes for the victory.

CADET C Niagara Falls Flyers 4 vs 3 OT vs Long Is Sienna Hawks Tim Housser's Flyers came from behind with Josh Greenall's Hat Trick his tying goal and the OT winner both unassisted. Dan Allen scored the other NF goal. Long Is got goals from Pat Esposito,Scott Bradshaw and Chris Martelli. Both netminders Flyers Chad Howard and Hawks Chris Haffner played great between the pipes.

CADET B St Catherine Cyclones 8 vs  1 NF Blueliners Coach Shawn Legear found eight different scorers to lead the Cyclones to the Championship.  John Abramns, Dan Clarke, Devon Boyko, Owen Sochuck, Dillon Huard, Jon Leclerc, Matt Aiello, & Rob Conn who also added 2 assists. Niagara Falls got their lone goal from Nick Krueger.

CADET A Leominster Kings 5 vs 4 OT Chicago Cobras One of those exciting  great games everyone will remember. The Cobras went 4 and 0 in round robin and then had a 4-1 lead early in the third period when the Kings coached by Steve Kendall  shook things up, and rallied to win the championship. Kings Keith Barnaby made it 4-2 mid way through the final period on a nice pass from CJ Holman. With less than a minute the Kings pulled netminder Dave Lillie and went on the attack peppering Cobra goalie Nick Siroky until Evan Brideau knocked in a rebound to make it 4-3. still the Cobras looked like they had the game until they iced the ball missing the kings open net. With the faceoff deep in their end ( 31 seconds left) CJ Holman scored right from  the draw, snapping a wrist shot over the glove of Siroky to send the game into Overtime. The KIngs pressed right off the faceoff and 47 second later a shot by Sean Paton delected into the Cobra net to win the Championship. Chicago goal scores were Mike Wilke, Jeff Smythe, John Ohde, and Steve Turn.

The Kings dedicated the Championship to teammate 15 year Domenic Fortunato #22 who diedaccidently while Jet Skiing in July.
